A blog is a collection of blog posts.
A author can publish a new blog post. In our blog - anyone can comment on a blog post.
Most recent blog posts are displayed "on top".
The "home page" of a blog (in our case https://weseloh-vacation.blogspot.com/) will display the most recently posted blog post.
That Blog Archive calendar is just one way that all the posts
are grouped and organized so you can find them. The Older Posts link is another.
Here is the structure of a blog (our blog in particular) and how
things are organized.
